Stories is the Makeup Museum’s blog written by the founder and curator. It covers a wide range of topics: brand and artist histories, styles and trends, marketing and advertising, design and packaging, and musings on contemporary beauty culture and the museum sector. The blog’s emphasis is on sharing relatively unknown figures and histories, particularly those of traditionally marginalized populations. Overall, the blog aims to present diverse and inclusive conversations around cosmetics and museums.

Notice and Takedown Policy for Blog Posts
The Makeup Museum makes materials accessible through fair use and open access (Section 107-108, Copyright Act) for educational and scholarly pursuit, but we do not own copyrights to all materials shown in blog posts. All images, magazines, newspaper clippings, and published materials are Copyright© by their respective authors/publishers. Care is taken to clear rights and attribute rights holders when possible, but due to the nature of archives and special collections this information is not always available. Copying, by any method, of material on this site for any purpose other than an individual’s personal reference for educational purposes without the written permission of the Makeup Museum, or the copyright owner, is prohibited.

Blog readers may find images for which they are the rights holder and have not granted permission or are not covered by a copyright exception under US copyright laws. In these cases, please send an email to contact@makeupmuseum.org with the following information: Rights-holder contact information (address, email, telephone number); Identification of the images with information sufficient to locate them, such as a screenshot or link; A statement containing the nature of the issue with the shared images, such as copyright infringement or privacy concern; and how the problem should be addressed, such as updating the copyright information or taking down the infringing materials.

Upon receiving a notice that includes the details listed above, the allegedly infringing images will be removed from public view while the issues identified in the notice are reviewed.
