Hillary Belzer

Founder and Curator

With a Bachelor’s degree in art history and a Master’s degree in cultural studies, as well as professional experience in several major cultural institutions including the Walters Art Museum and the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Hillary ensures the Makeup Museum solidifies makeup’s rightful place in museums and academia. Above all, she strives for for the Museum to be an agent of change within the cosmetics industry and beyond through analyzing both makeup history and contemporary beauty culture. Specialties include the intersection of fine art, art history and makeup, marketing and packaging, ‘90s/Y2K cosmetics, and little-known makeup histories. She hopes to pursue a Ph.D. to further her knowledge and enhance her research and curatorial skills. In addition to research, collection management, curating exhibitions, and writing blog posts, Hillary oversees all Museum administration and operations, including strategic planning, grant writing and maintaining its nonprofit status. She is also responsible for all external communications (social media, answering inquiries, etc.)

Glenn Dellon

Creative Director

Glenn oversees the creative direction for the Makeup Museum, including brand identity and exhibition design. A graphic designer with nearly 25 years’ experience, his skills extend to photography, web design and advising on acquisitions. Additionally, he provides invaluable emotional support to Hillary as her husband and long-time partner.

Staff

The Makeup Museum’s plushie staff brings together many diverse backgrounds and expertise. Original Babo (a.k.a. the Grand Poobah since he was the first Babo hired by the Museum) serves as Advisory Committee Chair, with Vice Chair Jeero making sure everyone stays on course and doesn’t get too distracted by cookies. Art Handler Secret Mission Babo smoothly and stealthily transitions objects between locations, while registrars Zeke and Dot keep track of the objects through the magical powers of their unique patterns. CFO Mathlete Babo ensures we stay within our budget and often teams up with Icebat, our Director of Development, on ideas for fundraising. Barney the pug is the Museum’s docent and occasionally helps out Visitor Services Associate Space Babo direct our guests. Meanwhile, Cookie Chef Babo creates delicious cookies and other treats at the Museum’s Compact Café. They may not be the brightest, but they welcome all museum visitors with open (and cuddly) arms!
