Flutter: A History of Eyelash Adornment

A comprehensive examination of lash beautification. What role do eyelashes play in beauty standards, and how did the concept of ideal lashes – and the tools used to achieve them – change throughout history? From human hair lashes and toxic mascara formulas to bejeweled false lashes and the significance of certain styles for various communities, Flutter will explore themes of identity, labor and femininity by tracing the evolution of lash trends and products. Anticipated opening date: National Lash Day (February 19), 2025.
