Upcoming collections

From some inside sources I've gotten leads on a few very interesting upcoming releases.

MAC:  Rumor has it that their next Icon will be Madonna.  In the past they've had Liza Minelli, Diana Ross and Catherine DeNeuve, but I think Madonna will really blow them all out of the water, especially since my sources tell me the working names for the products include Blond Ambition (a pale gold eyeshadow), Crazy for You (a subdued blue-red gloss), and Material Girl (a bright pink lipstick).  The packaging will be designed by Madge herself.

Chantecaille:  Chantecaille's commitment to the environment and animal species is reflected in their limited-edition items – butterflies, tigers, coral reefs, whales – you name it, they'll put it on a  palette.  Their fall 2009 lineup includes a palette embossed with…a moose.  An odd choice and a little too Northern Exposure for my taste, but like other collections they've done 5% of profits will go to the World Wildlife Fund to help save this animal from extinction.

Too-Faced:  This line is getting back to their roots and releasing a new Quickie Chronicles palette, called the Sea Siren.  The front of the palette will have a mermaid pin-up  in the style of the other Quickies.  (I suspect they're building on their recently released Mermaid's Treasure collection.)

Stila:  Too-faced may be spying on Stila or vice versa.  In the summer Stila will be releasing a 4-pan Mermaid palette, featuring the famous Stila girl rendered as a mermaid on the front.  The palette contains a bronzer for that sunkissed look and 3 eye shadows to give a soft blue-green mermaid sheen to your eyes:  Mystic, Seafoam and Kiwi.

Shu Uemura:  Shu is collaborating with legendary designer Shepard Fairey (who did the famous Obama poster)  to come up with a set of four limited-edition cleansing oils to be released for the fall season.

Chanel:  Chanel is doing a hat-themed collection for fall inspired by Coco's start as a millinery-shop owner.  The crown jewel of the line will be a cloche-shaped compact filled with powder stamped in the pattern of the fabric used to create Mademoiselle's first hat, much like the tweed blushes of last year.

Finally, a must-see piece by YSL – you can check it out here.  Enjoy!
