Here are some of the more frequently asked questions about the Makeup Museum.
We are an online-only institution for now, but are working towards a permanent physical space.
We LOVE getting object inquiries and researching them! The founder and curator will do her best to identify the object and provide as much information as possible. However, we cannot provide the object's monetary value and recommend that you contact an appraiser. Additionally, please note that the Makeup Museum reserves the right to share your inquiry (without your name or other identifying information) and any pictures you might have at the Museum's website, unless you request otherwise. Finally, there is no charge for research services, but we greatly appreciate contributions if you are able.
No. Nearly all of the objects in the Museum’s collection are purchased by the founder and curator’s own personal income. Sometimes we receive items as gifts from friends and family, and they are acknowledged as such. We’ve also been fortunate enough to receive some incredible donations from fellow makeup aficionados over the years.
We appreciate your enthusiasm! The Makeup Museum is currently an all-volunteer effort. No one is employed or paid by the Museum – the team has completely unrelated full-time jobs. Thus, there are no paid employment opportunities right now, but we do offer volunteer positions.
Objects 20 years or older are usually purchased at online retailers and auction sites, primarily eBay, Etsy and Ruby Lane. Occasionally we’ll stumble across a good find at an in-person shop or flea market, but it’s rare.
None of the Museum's objects are for sale at the moment.
